Heartland rocker whose music spanned from the sixties to eighties. He began as the frontman of The Bob Seger System, who had a Top 40 hit with Ramblin' Gamblin' Man and had a much more riveting style than his later work. His eighties hit Like a Rock was used for many years in Chevrolet truck commercials. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame without his backing group, The Silver Bullet Band, with which he had most of his hits. His song Turn the Page was written about life while on tour. It was successfully covered by thrash metal band Metallica. All of his albums with the SBB went at least gold. Beautiful Loser, released before the band was created, went double platinum. Face the Promise went platinum. Both live albums went multi-platinum. His greatest hits went nine times platinum. The sequel went platinum. Ultimate Hits went platinum. Numerous hits throughout his career.
