San Francisco band and a part of the Haight-Ashbury sound of the sixties. Best known for their hit Fresh Air. Influenced by jazz, classical, and folk. Member David Freiberg had previously worked with David Crosby of The Byrds. Both he and John Cipollina had both been arrested for marijuana possession. Performed at the Monterey Pop Festival. Also performed at the Avalon Ballroom and Fillmore West. Their sound engineer was also an LSD chemist. Worked with The Steve Miller Band. Influenced by Bo Diddley. Member Gary Duncan left the band due to drug problems. Member Nicky Hopkins had also performed with The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Who, and Steve Miller. Also performed at Winterland. Have had several reunion concerts. Hopkins went on to play with Jefferson Airplane at Woodstock.
